I had a Sun Frost solar refrigerator, which lasted about 11 years that I used in my cabin (tiny house style) on Vancouver Island, BC. I stay in the cabin about 4 months of the year and rent it out when I am not there. The sun Frost finally gave up the ghost and I couldn't find parts to repair it.
So, at the end of 2019 I purchased a Unique Appliances 12 volt 470L1solar fridge (Unique Appliances is a Canadian brand), which cost me $2,400 (Canadian), excluding shipping and what a nightmare it was. After several attempts to install it, I got an installer in who finally for it going. The installer said there was a poor cable connection in the Unique solar fridge. After he got it running, I noticed that the power consumption of the Unique solar fridge was a lot higher than advertised. I had two 12v 110Ah golf cart batteries. And my batteries got drained all the time. I did not get much help from the guys in their Unique Appliances support team.
I finally gave up, sold the Unique Appliances solar fridge and bought the Ecosolarcool ESCR450DW. It was way easier to install. It has been running now for three and a half months. It works just fine. It does not drain the same batteries I used with the Unique Appliances solar fridge. I much prefer the stainless steel metallic feel of the Ecosolarcool ESCR450DW compared to the Unique 470L1, which is a dull white color. What would have made the Ecosolarcool fridge absolutely perfect is if it had a built in ice machine, but there are no solar DC fridges anywhere with this functionality (I certainly haven't found one with an ice maker).
